Michele Fellows, owner and founder of Sweet Alexis, is the mother of two children with multiple food and environmental allergies, including asthma, one of whose allergies are life-threatening. Alexis was only ten months old when doctors informed Michele and her husband Jim of the severity of their daughter’s allergies. Even though they nearly lost her, Michele and Jim were sent home from the hospital without any information on how to deal with the severity of the situation, where to go for information, support, or even safe products. Out of dire necessity, Michele slowly developed recipes that were safe for her family to consume. After much trial and error, delicious treats emerged that gained popularity not only among her family and friends, but the whole community as well. Michele has great sympathy for others who face the terrible dilemma of finding safe and delicious food for those with food allergies. At the suggestion of her appreciative friends (including those who can eat anything safely), Michele created Sweet Alexis. Her motive was to share her delicious, safe treats as well as her experiences, so families with food-allergic members can all enjoy the same food. She knows that through good food, we can all create awareness, spread information, and support each other so every family with special food needs is cared for and nourished, both physically and emotionally.
